Scrimmage offers clear insight into rising recruits.
The boys' basketball scrimmage between Fishers and Terre Haute North Vigo took place on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Fishers High School as part of the Tigers' Scrimmage Day. After winning the Class 4A state championship two years ago and finishing as runner-up last season, Fishers entered the night with a strong tradition but several question marks as they move forward without a talented graduating class. Terre Haute North Vigo also came into the matchup with momentum, earning a regional title last year before falling to Lawrence North in the New Castle Semistate semifinal on March 22, 2025.
There was a lot of talent on both sides of the court, and several players rose to the moment. Four in particular left a strong impression.
Junior guard Cooper Zachary led the way for Fishers with a dominant all-around performance. He looked stronger than much of the backcourt and played with control while showing natural poise. Zachary consistently made smart decisions with the ball and displayed impressive shotmaking, with a shooting range that extended comfortably to NBA distance. He is positioned to draw serious attention during the upcoming summer evaluation period, and readers should expect Division I programs to track him closely. His ability to impact the game at his size continues to strengthen his reputation as one of Indiana’s most compelling junior guards.
Fishers also received a major lift from senior power forward Kai McGrew, a 6'9" interior presence and one of the top ten seniors in Indiana. McGrew has been generating significant college attention, and his performance backed up that interest. He was physically dominant throughout the scrimmage, controlled space in the paint, and finished plays through contact. His highlight came late in the game when he threw down a powerful dunk that completely shifted the gym’s energy and took the life out of Terre Haute North. McGrew’s combination of size, strength, and activity around the rim continues to make him a major prospect to watch.
On the Terre Haute North side, senior point guard Gavin Woelfle made an immediate impression with a strong first quarter. His confident perimeter shooting and overall toughness gave the Patriots an early spark. Although undersized for the position, Woelfle competes with determination and carries himself like a player intent on finding a college opportunity. His ability to step into big moments continues to stand out.
Senior wing Trai Brown also delivered quality minutes for the Patriots. Brown contributed with timely scoring, active defense, and a steady presence that added value every time he stepped on the floor. He is a reliable role player who embraces his job and does not try to do too much. While still under the radar, his efficiency and spark give him the potential to develop into a low minute contributor at the next level.
Overall, the scrimmage offered an early look at key personnel for both programs and highlighted several players who opened the winter season with standout performances.
